SuperLimbs
SuperLimbs is a system of wearable robotic limbs that physically support astronauts and help lift them back onto their feet after a fall in environments with reduced gravity, such as the Moon. The system helps astronauts conserve energy for other essential tasks while improving mobility and safety during exploration.
In this work, I helped develop a human-like passive leg test platform for safely testing the SuperLimbs system without putting a person at risk during early-stage experiments. I designed the legs to replicate key characteristics of human motion, loading, and inertia while supporting realistic standing and movement configurations. Because the legs must safely support the approximately 150 lb SuperLimbs device, I also conducted structural and load testing to validate the design and identify potential failure points.
